A very warm welcome back and a Happy New Year to you all.
Our Future Finders students have started the term off well; some of them have continued on the placements that were started last term while others have begun new placements to gather new experience. They are all working hard!
This week Maria will be giving you an insight into the Day in the Life of one of our students, Liam, who has just started a new placement after spending last term at Oldham library..
This has been a busy week with Future Finders on new placements at the start of the year. Liam has been gaining work experience in The Atrium Café at First Choice Homes and his days have been very busy!
Liam walks over to The Atrium with his job coach at 9.30am to begin the day and they check in with the other café staff to see what jobs need doing that day. He has been working on the till helping to serve customers, especially at busy times..
Liam has also been clearing the back yard at the café where all the deliveries come in – it can get quite messy out there as they are on a corner and there can be lots of rubbish blowing in through the gates..
Later in the day Liam does the milk, coffee and tea round to ensure all the kitchens are fully stocked for the staff at FCHO, making sure he checks all the dates on the milk and puts them away in date order..
Liam has a very varied day at The Atrium and he is enjoying learning lots of new skills and working as part of a team.
Well done Liam on you first week, you have worked very hard!
I am looking forward to bringing you more news of how our students are getting on in their placements next week.
Have a lovely weekend,
Head of College
